Three main themes were present in co-victims' interviews. 1. True crime can help bring needed attention to their loved one’s (and other people’s) cases. 2. True crime can help educate people on criminal justice system issues. 3. True crime can place pressure on criminal justice officials.

We are reading “In Cold Blood” in my media and crime class and “Leaving Dorian” for my domestic violence class.

It varies by class, but generally I have them read the book in parts and then we meet for “book club” meetings throughout the semester where I lead discussion. The discussion questions tie the book to the course material.
