I share, or nearly share an email with someone in the US, and as a result have (quite genuinely) just been headhunted for a role as a structural engineer working on roller coaster design.

This identity mix-up could well be the start of a golden era for the US theme park industry.

"In an age of distraction, division, and digital noise, people are not turning away from spirituality, but seeking ways to explore and nurture it; and yet, in their efforts to attract people, some churches look to the marketplace . . . rather than what is under their noses."

Silence could be a way to revitalise churches
In an age of distraction and noise, Christian meditation can meet people’s thirst for spirituality, says Chris Whittington

We are in a season where the Church often turns to think about and offer space for grief and bereavement. Been thinking about what it means (and how the church can help) to grieve and remember those who are still alive, but because of the cruelty of dementia are also somehow lost to us ♥️

"In a world of noise, Hungry Paul was enjoying a rare moment of silence, with a room full strangers"
Loved Leonard and Hungry Paul, and would like to see Hungry Paul employed by the C of E to teach the church about how, sometimes, a simple companionable silence might be just what it needs to offer..

I mean I love a Tim Tam just as much as the next guy but that is a cracking result, and the perfect consolation for yesterday's humiliation.

Plus pleased to see Jemi Rodrigues produce such a special innings. She is up there as one of my favourite players outside of England.

More lovely books. I've been banging on about how extraordinary Decomposing Holy Ground is for a while, but I'll do so again now.
Trust me: It. Is. Breathtaking.
Did someone say new book day?!

I am a late-comer to this but so far it is an extraordinary, bewitching, transporting read. To get some measure of how much I am enjoying it, consider that I am currently *actively looking forward* to my journeys on the 0645 to Waterloo.

Is there a more completely dominant team in any sport than the Australia women's cricket team? They've only lost something like 5% of their ODIs in the past 5 years.

They can win from anywhere. And they almost certainly will. Terrifying.

Our demands are simple:
Claudia Winkleman saying "and the next Archbishop of Canterbury is...", followed by a teasingly long pause, dramatic drum beats, spotlights, and the camera panning to a close up of each candidate in turn.
