Try what, exactly? Amtrak can’t TRY to have a limitless budget, it has actual constraints. It would be unwise for them to greenlight impossible projects when they don’t see a viable path forward.

Sure. But Amtrak officials exist in the real world, where resources are limited and the government is complex and often hostile.

My feedback was about an Amtrak policy decision, not an abstract ideal. But I understand your frustration!

I’m ok with this. I think US passenger rail should focus on strong regional connections. These seem way more viable to replace flights.
