Last month, Anas al-Sharif sounded the alarm on starvation in Gaza. Israel accused him of terrorism.

"We warned this felt like a precursor to justify assassination," said Jodie Ginsberg of the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Today he was killed in a targeted strike on a tent housing reporters.

It must be soul-destroying walking out of work at SHU, knowing your job is at risk, and passing £150M of shiny new buildings. Unbelievable this is happening again.

On Wednesday, all staff at Sheffield Hallam University were called to an online meeting with the university’s leaders and told that the university’s already perilous financial situation had got even worse.
