In every human rights court procedure, arguments related to history —tacitly or explicitly, willingly or unwittingly— are rehearsed by legal professionals, especially in difficult cases that attempt to bring closure to ‘historical wrongs.’

Had a wonderful time at the workshop “Of Borders, Law & the World" last year in the so-called Fulda gap! It was a pleasure to chair the panel on international legal history as critique and to discuss, with Dr. Raphael Schäfer and Frederike Kuntz, the influence of David Kennedy and Martti Koskenniemi

After yesterday's Centennial Anniversary event, my stay at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law has come to an end. I am very grateful to many old friends and new colleagues for what was a very fun fall term here! Felices fiestas!!

Excited to see this article out as part of a London Review symposium on ‘the multiple materialisms of international law’ that emerged out of the workshop on method, methodology and critique convened by Dimitri Van Den Meerssche in the rather apocalyptic winter of 2021.
