of course!!! i hope it made sense and you're able to do it! ive found that a lot of patterns/designs that seem complicated are actually quite simple once u break it up into steps! i love patterns for that very reason hehe :3

then a separate layer you would go into the middle parts of your current squares and line up equally to add the thin black/white lines afterwards! it helps to have lock-on grid, or some sort og straightening tool.

the size of the brush for the lines is how big the squares will be. gingham can be done with just how i explained^
if you like how there are more shades in this specific example (light, med, AND dark) then u would do a higher opacity for either vertical/hori, and then lower opacity for opposite line

my ez cheatcode for plaid/ginghams, ill use red for ex:
- base color (red)
- 50% opacity (can tweak % depending on shades wanted) for 2nd color (black)
-do horizontal, then vertical lines. the opacity% is whats gonna give u the varying colors
- if u want the smaller lines, add em last!
