#ActuallyAutistic. White cishet femme (she/her) but doing my best to center more marginalized perspectives. Disabled is not a dirty word. Use AltText or ask others to write it for you.

... and after I posted that, noticing he specifies only that she's no longer associated with his *government* office. As though she's still associated with him in other capacities.

Still wondering when she became "no longer associated with" his office.

I haven't followed it that closely, but did she *actually* hire security, or did she just start getting spam calls from security companies (along with the calls trying to buy a house from her and sell her insurance)?

All I've seen her say is she was getting spam calls. Not even threatening calls.

everyone says "we don't negotiate with terrorists" until the terrorists open a negotiation

More than "a bit." Since the 5G "upgrade" last year I lose 100 Mbps when the trees leaf out in the spring. Never used to happen when it was 4G, and I got decent throughput (always way better upload speed with 4G for whatever reason)

OMG yeah, it's been at least 5 years since I got my first home cellular modem, and before that if I wanted to join a meeting I had to use my phone as a hotspot. Back then I only got 15 hotspot GB/month so it was *only* for meetings, never got to stream video or download images. I do not miss that.

So NOW The Post thinks there was something wrong with one of their reporters being dismembered. Pity they couldn't have come to that conclusion a year and a half ago.

Rest is not only a human right, it's an absolute necessity. This crisis moment may be an exception, but in general, dying early, or becoming prematurely disabled, so you can knock an extra 50 doors each week while you're able, is not an effective strategy.

"TV 37 hours a week" is why Disabled people adopted the "spoons" metaphor, which I personally hate, but use. Bc when you say "I don't have time" people hyper-literalize it, when you say "I don't have energy" people trivialize it," & most days I don't have the spoons for the syllables in "capacity."

The demographic you're talking about may have lots of commitment to the community via their jobs and kids, but as you yourself point out, no time.
November 18, 2025 at 4:01 PM
Please. I said time AND commitment TO THE COMMUNITY.

Our hard experience is that the very young would usually prefer to move somewhere more hospitable, than beat their heads against the wall. Most 21-unders don't have mortgages, high support needs or dependents. Some, obv, not most.

They very likely will wind up in leadership when they have time ... wherever they decide to go out of school. Which in our experience, is almost never in our community.
November 18, 2025 at 3:51 PM
I'm referring more to the other end of the spectrum of people with time, the high school and college students.

We have a lot of unfortunate experience with volunteers from that demographic. Bring them in for short term energy for absolute sure, but don't put them in leadership track positions.

... this weekend's actions are designed specifically to do that, with the demands, the congressional visits AND the mass visibility rally. Way fewer people would be showing up to their congressmember's office if they hadn't protested by the 100s-1000s in their hometowns.

I think a lot of people (whyte) still think they’d be at brunch if Kamala had won.

To him, it was just enough to keep her stringing along, and no more.
