Both Dryden and Parent were both injured. Parent missed the entire final that year, Dryden played every. Habs beat Flyers 4-0. Cannot find anything about the injury. He didn’t start the first game of the season, home game. Vezina & Cup winner didn’t first game??? Played most of the first 10 games.

I read it soon after it came out in paperback 94ish. Public access to “the web” came in 93. Back then it was SciFi. Now it is probably considered fantasy or dystopian alternate history. How did become aware of Snow Crash?

Today kids probably know the silhouette of every plane from video games.

There was a scene where a plane few overhead he suddenly blurted out the name of the plane. He had never done that. Never showed any interest in planes.
I asked how do you know? The silhouette. I asked where did you learn that? We all learned that in school.

Thank you. He never talked about the war, boot camp, service. When I asked he would say some variation on “we all went through it”, “did what we had to”. In my 40’s lived about 20min away so I would buy groceries for him. I was there and he was watching something about the war maybe a movie.

Fear of war, the destruction it causes wasn’t discussed it was just present. In my teens we went to London on vacation. He showed me his childhood home. Went around the corner to see the church he was born in. It had been hit in the blitz. 40 years later it was still in ruins.
