RFK Jr is what happens when a society completely flops on addressing nutrition and chronic disease risk.

-The funding dedicated to this topic is a drop in the bucket compared to pharma, and the research infrastructure has gotten worse over time (particularly under Collins's NIH).

Very proud of the work Dr. Vitor Oliveira is doing with the PROSPER-HIV study to promote improved nutrition and physical activity in adults with HIV!

At baseline, only 10% of 706 participants met criteria for both adequate nutrition and physical activity levels.
Diet and Activity Deficits Persist in People With HIV
Data from a large cohort showed the need for lifestyle improvement.

4-5%. The entire NIH portfolio for nutrition research and training of future nutrition scientists has ranged 4-5% of total NIH$$ since 2015, and it's slightly decreased each calendar year. When you read a study and wonder "why didn't they do X-Y-Z?" -- it's because "they" can't afford to.
