The DOE serves an important purpose of overseeing the implementation of Federal laws like IDEA, Title 9, Title 1, Title 4 and so on. They also distribute resources to public schools to implement these laws.
Rick Scott: "Why do we have the Department of Education? Why? Our states should be doing that. Our federal government should not be involved in the education system."
