Etymology of the day: ‘book’ comes from an ancient root shared by ‘beech’, a wood that people used for engraving inscriptions. ‘Paper’ comes from ‘papyrus’, and ‘volume’ is from the Latin for a ‘roll’ of parchment.

Happy World Book Day.

💌 Happy mail is on the way, Dr. G.G! @trinityeliteedu.bsky.social
Here’s a sneak peek… 🎉 Their writing has improved, with better penmanship and confidence, using phonics and complex sentences. 🏆 I may be biased, but they did a phenomenal job!

💌 Expect some happy mail soon, Dr. G.G! I’m really proud of their writing. They've been focusing on penmanship and using phonics, and you’ll notice complex sentences with conjunctions. I may be biased, but they did a phenomenal job!

My first graders have been busy little elves making their own felt stockings. They did everything but a hole-punch the felt it was too tough for the little hands, but they did a fantastic job. I love their bold color choices.

Word of the day is ‘librocubicularist’: one who loves nothing better than reading in bed.

(Not easy to say, but I’m glad to know it exists).

I’m excited to share a little brag post about my students! I’m incredibly proud of their progress in writing and printing. They now enjoy writing and challenging themselves during writing time. Look at some of their papers on “How to Be Kind.”
