NG-2 Update: New Glenn is ready to launch. However, due to highly elevated solar activity and its potential effects on the ESCAPADE spacecraft, NASA is postponing launch until space weather conditions improve.

It operated until the year 2000 when it was dismantled and the LHC was built. The 27 km tunnel that LHC uses was built for LEP, was done in only five years, and was the biggest civil engineering project in Europe in the 80's!
