I would hypothesize that the dogs would eat you out of love and to incorporate your essence as an inner representation of you. Whereas the cats just don’t give a shit and if you’re dead, you’re now food. (I am being sarcastic but maybe there is a kernel of truth?)

I once had a friend who had an interaction with someone at a store about how to stand in a line. The person finally said, “Nice emotional intelligence!” to insult my roommate. He and I cracked up and used that line for years.
