First time playing 6p Dune Imperium Uprising. Apart from one player suffering from severe AP, it was a fun time. Having said that, not sure I wanna play it 6p again. It went over 3h with some downtime between turns. Anyone else had a similar experience? #boardgames

Merv has been on my list of games to try for a while. Despite winning the game today, I felt like I didn’t play optimally. I definitely want to play it again and I definitely prefer it over Sankore. However, I don’t need to own it. #boardgames

I finally got to play my Anniversary Box of #Orleans using the Intrigue board. Despite being attacked left and right, I still love this game. I guess I have to think of different strategies.
I’m so glad I got this copy, as it is definitely in my top 10. The production value is great. #boardgames

We played #Shinjuku incorrectly, and I don’t tend to like pick-up-and-deliver games. However, I liked it and want to play it again. This is the European version and includes two variants. The car variant is a must! #boardgames

Learned Lift Off today, a card drafting game in which you are launching rockets. The positive interaction was a good thing, but the gameplay feels quite long based on what it offers. So many drafting games I’d rather play instead. #boardgames

Played #Luthier 4p last weekend. I remember watching the Thinker Themer video about it a year ago and I chose not to back it based on the blind bidding. After playing it, I was happy that I didn’t. The gameplay feels quite repetitive and predictable, just like Distilled. #boardgamesky

#Petiquette is a game where you are trying to figure out which card goes in the sequence (?). Despite having no correct answer, you want to make sure your answer matches other players’ so you can score points. Hearing players explain their logic is the most fun part! Love this game! #boardgames

I recently on vacation to the Kansai region of Japan: Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Kobe and had an amazing time. However, I still stopped by a few board games stores and found a few of my Holy Grails: Ostia mini expansions, the Downfall of Pompeii, and Savage Bowl TT. #boardgames

Last game I played this weekend: Tea Garden. Fourth time playing it, and I can see it being repetitive. It does definitely depend on the cards that you draw and that are available in the market in the first round. Compared to others, the river strategy does not seem to be a winning one. #boardgames

Games I played this weekend #2: Godspeed. Worker placement that has a secret bidding for first player and special cards and a secret offering for potential rewards - things that I don’t enjoy in games. It reminds me of a shorter Lockup. Still, plenty of worker placements I’d rather play #boardgames

Games I played this weekend #1: Thunder Alley. It’s an interesting racing game but theres something about it that just doesn’t do it for me. The events can help those who are behind, especially if it’s a yellow flag. Having said that, there isn’t touch you can do depending on the cards. #boardgames

Yesterday was my first time playing #terraformingmars with #venus and #turmoil expansions in addition to Preludes 1 and 2, and colonies that I had already played. I managed to win by two points. All it took was buying a couple of votes haha

Rococo was also on the table this week. Second time playing it, but this time at 2p. Although I like what the game offers, it needs a higher player count. Otherwise the tiles and dress cards don’t cycle as quickly. The battle for area control is also limited at 2p. #boardgames

Earlier this week we played Life of the Amazonia. My first time playing it was in DC and 4p. It went over 3.5 hours. However, my friend has several AP. Here in Korea I played 2p and it lasted an hour. A much easier experience when you play with someone who wants to have fun. #boardgames

This past Saturday I got to play Saltjord, Faraway and SETI. Saltfjord was a surprise. Great at 3p but I can see it being long with 4p. Also, I’m not sure about its replayability, even with the advanced variant.

This season finale of #australiansurvivor was all about healing. As a fan, I’m beyond happy with the outcome as history has been written. #survivoraustraliavstheworld

Overparked was a cute surprise! A simultaneous drafting system similar to Planet Unknown. Its puzzle system is quite challenging, and a great theme worth exploring. #boardgamesky

Yesterday I played Stonespine Architects, Yellow and Yangtze, Master of Respect and Cafe. Stonespine continues to be one of favorite games of 2024 whereas I could care less for YY (despite winning the game). MOR has an interesting programming mechanism, much better than Cafe. #boardgamesky

The before and after me (blue) getting Mercator Rex first in #twilightimperium. Despite getting destroyed, I was the only player who managed to score the imperium card. This was my second time playing and my first win. I used the #Viticulture strategy. #boardgamesky

This past Thursday I got to play Biohack during my lunch break, then an evening with TM Ares Expedition, Tzolkin’ and Re-co+ a very good set collection game. Definitely fun times #boardgamesky

This is a very important conversation to be had and I am glad influential content creators are raising this issue. This is especially important as a great number of gamers like myself are part of the Queer community and are oftentimes marginalized.
I wanted to share a few thoughts recent discussions around CGE’s decision to partner with JKR for their upcoming @codenamesgame.bsky.social game have prompted. Thankful to those who spoke early to this issue (Marceline, Tiffany, @nopunincluded.com et al) for helping this get the needed attention.

I played Nucleum yesterday. I found the action selection system better than Brass’ cards whereas Brass has impressive artwork. I’d rather play Nucleum though. It’s a play, not a buy for me though. I found myself forgetting what abilities I had unlocked. #boardgamesky

Taverns of Tiefenthal is a deck builder and dice placement game with a push your luck element. Unfortunately, push-your-games are not for me, especially if they remind me of Quacks. #boardgamesky

Played Civolution last week. I really wanted to love it, but it didn’t need to be this convoluted. It’s not necessarily a hard game but there are just so many things happening. It could have been streamlined and then have expansions later that add more stuff. #boardgamesky

After six years into the hobby, I finally played #twilightimperium 4th edition. I’m glad it lasted six hours (without the teach) and that I was playing w people I like (no AP there). I am not sure I like it but I need to play more. There’s a lot of small rules that are easier to forget #boardgamesky
