This budget is so bad for...everything that I can't actually even comprehend it. So I'm not going to try today. Here's a Kruger sunrise and baby hyenas instead.

Today’s little joys. First Miriam just…ecstatic over her squeaky ball. Ending on a hilarious face. And then I have SO MANY monarch caterpillars!!! I counted at least 15.

She vanished into the thick scrub and woods by the trail and I couldn’t hear or see her for 1-2 minutes. Finally I climbed down the steep embankment and of course then she came right to me. Clearly had had a great time down there. Ok fine dog. You’re a jerk.

Fall always reminds me of my first “science love”, the humble aphid, pemphigus obesinymphae. It’s a gall forming aphid that makes galls at the base of poplar leaves. And when the leaves fall off at this time, I’m filled with nostalgia for my undergrad thesis.

FYI it is possible to have TOO many tomatoes. These are all fist sized and the ones in the basket are not the same ones as the ones on the counter. And this ain’t even all of them. And I had to throw out like 30 that rotted on the vine.
