This is a perfect example of how leaving the “free market” to decide results in food deserts; this is a problem govt can and must fix! (also worth thinking real hard about varying commercial real estate rents.)

I’ll even go so far as to say that I will gladly accept a damp handshake from someone who washed their hands and could not adequately dry them!

Can i pls not form an opinion on this? Just wash ur hands folks!!

It’s 18 tablespoons of butter, Michael. What could it cost, $10?

Yeah, IMO "Reddit as Google" also falls into this trap vs "Reddit as community I post/like/comment/engage in."

Perhaps I'm getting at an argument that "YouTube is more Media than *Social* Media"
November 25, 2025 at 5:54 PM
Exactly: I never like/comment/subscribe, but I play YouTube videos to solve home repair problems, as a radio, definitely stats stuff, TV clips I missed, etc..

IMO the way we "use" YouTube w/o an account makes it kinda different from a walled garden like FB/IG where engagement is more the point.

Good lord. Maybe you DID need 6 Californias.

We need the "wives' perspective" on this that amounts to "yeah, over the span of 3 months I persuaded my husband to vote Kennedy over Nixon because I knew Kennedy would be better for micro-economic issues, since I run the household budget."

And look, I realize the "we slept in!!" plot point and resulting frantic departure is necessary for losing a kid in the attic. I get it. But it's always grated on me (and we watch that movie All Year Round in my home!).

IMO the biggest problem with the Home Alone plot is a transatlantic, direct flight from ORD to presumably CDG that leaves at, like, 10am Central time or whatever.

As someone who came up thru Obama I'm also curious who/what is motivating the teens and 20somethings to get involved right now. In the '10s I think Occupy/Bernie got people involved.

Since I do mostly housing activism now, I see this along the lines of who wants to preserve the status quo (continue not building enough) vs. change the status quo (let other people exist in your neighborhood). There's an intersection with "elites" but IMO it's not clear what yet.

Because subconsciously, he felt bad because he knew he stole Danny’s woman. And he screwed over the old guy. Turnabout is fair play.

It is *possible* she knew. 🤔

My mom has always been really hard to shop for. And one year my dad and I were just out of ideas, and he goes “… asparagus!” It was perfect. Filled the top third of the stocking perfectly. 10/10, no notes. 😁

(Hiding it in her fridge for 1-2 days was another matter.)

It was good, but I’m glad I made a very lemony buttery sauce for the chicken because the harissa carrot fennel was a little bit dry.

Didn’t feel like making a yogurt garlic sauce. Would definitely serve the whole thing over super oily garlic sauteed rice next time.

This just went into the oven! Decided to pair with skinless thighs cooked with caramelized lemon and probably some garlic and onions.
