Hospitals are no longer charitable facilities. Public hospitals have declined sharply, while giant for-profit systems, such as HCA Healthcare and CommonSpirit, have expanded nationwide. In half of U.S. metro areas, just one or two systems dominate the market. open.substack.com/pub/yourloca...
