Vertebrate Paleontologist at the Museums of Western Colorado. Nature photographer and owner of Earthly Exposures. Foster of Kittens. All opinions are my own.
My poor kitty, Kona, has earned herself a trip to the vet with scabs like these.

She's had them a few weeks and even though I've cut out the possible allergen... they persist. Time for an expert analysis.

She sees dead things.

@uglyfossils.bsky.social totally killed it with her talk at #2025SVP today on the decomposition of reptiles and implications for Dinosaur Mummy formation.

If you missed it, be sure to find her today... as it is the last day of the conference.

The posters are hung at the conference with care, in hopes that paleontologists soon would be there.

Last Poster Session starts this afternoon! Come find me and @paleorob.bsky.social side by side for all the weird and mysterious fossil goodness. #2025SVP

It's always fun when you can put out some new skulls in the exhibit hall!

Taxa were chosen based on materials collected in western Colorado, housed at Museums of Western Colorado and BYU.

Skulls were fabricated by Gaston Design Inc and Triebold Paleontology Inc.

Finding yourself out in the wild is super surreal...

Okay, so it's a wholesaler reselling my book on eBay... but it's still weird to run across unexpectedly.

Yesterday, I found this lovely Allosaurus tail vert. (Vertical and high in the wall... like ya do at MMQ). Also found a Mymoorapelta osteoderm, some shed teeth, and a Camarasaurus tail vert around it.

Pulled the others yesterday and pulled this one today. Been a good week at Mygatt-Moore Quarry.
