'In Their Absence is a powerful dissection of what it means to go missing. This compelling debut explores the human complexities behind the headlines and statistics to reveal unsettling truths about what it is to live in the shadow of absence.'

I remember the British Embassy Bulgaria supporting a British gambling organisation when I lived there because 'business is a good thing'. Absolutely grotesque 🤮🤮
A billion-pound jump in gambling income in a single year is not a success story — it’s a warning. We need stronger taxes and urgent action to protect people from an industry built on addiction.

So proud to see this book out in the wild. I edited Tâigael: Stories from Taiwanese & Gaelic with @willbuckingham.com and we published it through our indie press @windandbones.com.

Here it is pictured at the Push the Boat Out Festival in Edinburgh with writer Elissa Hunter-Dorans.

🇬🇧Never let the unionist politicians & media get away with their false narrative that Covid outcomes were “broadly similar” throughout the countries of the uk

As Reform UK grows in popularity across the country, attention has shifted to the party’s own relationship with the right to an abortion

The catastrophic illegal waste dumping in Oxfordshire (see next post) is a direct result of the deregulation-by-stealth I wrote about in 2021, when my dead goldfish became a registered waste disposer. I warned it would let the mafia in. And here we are.🧵

Algernon Goldfish is long gone, but I was able to sign him up. No wonder so many crooks are illegally dumping and ruining our environment, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Wes Streeting branded the doctors BMA a cartel, while getting a lot richer via real cartels ...

"A quick but helpful chart breaking down who owns Wes Streeting. Unsurprisingly a large amount appears to be owned by private health companies."

Who had "biology is destiny, after all" on their feminist bingo card? The answer is "no one," because it's the complete antithesis of everything feminism stands for. And if that isn't obvious enough, just look at who's pushing it: every authoritarian fascist in the world, without exception.
As a cis woman I’m actually super stoked to uncouple the concept of fecundity from the concept of cis woman & given that feminism has been trying to do this exact thing for decades (centuries?) it’s baffling to see ‘feminists’ being like ‘no ACKTUALLY women ARE defined by their ability to reproduce’
