Honestly, my pessimistic outlook on the future is probably mostly permanent. I think many of us on the left learned something about 40%-50% of the country that we didn't understand before Trump. Now that I've confronted that reality, I don't think the future is very bright. #democrats #midterms
What a new Gallup poll shows about the depth of Americans' gloom
A new Gallup poll reveals that Americans' optimism about their future is at a low. Only 59% of U.S. adults rate their future life satisfaction highly, which is the lowest measure since Gallup began as...

A little wet on the run today, which was actually kind of nice. Some new buildings going up, a hidden courtyard, and a nice mural I've always liked. #sandiego #urbanism #urbanrunning

An actual "Save America Act" would probably entail barring any republicans from holding office for the foreseeable future. #StopTheSaveAct

I love living in a nice, walkable neighborhood, but honestly it's probably too easy for me to get a latte some days. #urbanism #cityproblems #toomuchcoffee

I had a dream last night that I had a real job. I woke up quite relieved. #freelance

Started tagging things in my schedule as "fun". Today, I went for a nice run, and then we walked to get some coffee and browse music at the local record shop. This stuff gets lost at times, so perhaps this is a way to be more appreciative. #productivity #freelance

Just a nice plant (and light). #plants #sandiego

More Bankers Hill while out running. Loving all of the progress (although it can make running through the neighborhood difficult at times). #sandiego #urbanism

I think the greatest thing about living in a climate that's warm year-round, is always having the birds out singing in the mornings, even in the middle of winter. #sandiego #socal #cali #birds #thelittlethings

I would love to have a city-run "office of getting shit done", that gives citizens some assistance/guidance for creating things like pocket parks, community gardens, or even just placing more benches around the neighborhood. #urbanism #cities

A couple of the new buildings going up in Bankers Hill, plus a nice use of the median between parking and the bike lane. #urbanism #sandiego

Your music probably isn't turned up loud enough.

(Just a reminder to myself to crank up the music -- makes a big difference in my mood. #music #productivity)

So nice out today -- gonna have to spend some quality time out on the patio. Hopefully I can get some work done too, but maybe that should be a second priority. #sandiego #socal

I think covering a song has about a 2%-4% chance of actually being successful. Why do people do this? #music

I've found that it often times pays off to procrastinate.

Such a beautiful day. Have the window open, listening to the birds sing, and letting some of the warm air into the house. There's something about this time of year, sound carries differently, or the light is different. Not sure what it is, just pleasant. #sandiego

The weekend was spent slamming through a project for a client. Things are mostly there, and now I'm in the phase where I'm making small fixes and adjustments. This is my favorite phase. The tasks are small but impactful, and I can cross off quite a few in the span of an afternoon. #freelance

Sometimes there is some miraculous productivity hack to solve the problem of having too much to do. Sometimes there's just actually too much work.
