The Mother series (a series which is fantastic and a hallmark for games as art btw) makes Final Fantasy II look like a feminist masterpiece, not to mention the rest of the series. FF actually has stories about women and major characters while the Mother series has the token girl multiple times.

Uh. Wow. Sure that’s the series you want to invoke against Final Fantasy for not having women talk enough?

It is a sexist series, obviously, but I feel like it’s for some reason easy to ignore that it has gotten a significant following from women because it has made us feel included, despite what this graph says

FF literally gives me all these things, including the stories of strong women that have resonated and are incredibly important to me (yes, even in the dreaded XVI). This chart is functionally worthless and I’m so confused why FF is always on the chopping block when it actually feels like it tries.

Also it’s awesome that they excluded 11 from this because almost every main companion in that game is a woman and it’s a MMO so you know they never stop talking

Honestly the fact that Final fucking Fantasy is always portrayed in this manner reeks of xenophobia to me, especially with the unprecedented Horizon glaze in the replies like be for real

It reminds me of how JoJo is, rightfully, lambasted for being sexist but it also raised the bar for women in shonen multiple times. There is a discussion to be had here but it’s almost like it’s a little bit too nuanced for a dumbass graph.

Even in the one the internet thinks is the worst at this ever (XVI, lol) there’s a million women that are strong and badass in ways that are very real and important to me that I’ve never seen a series of its status even dare to attempt. God I’d take a million FF girls over the shit coming out today.

Ultimately it makes me kind of happy that something so gay can be accepted and loved by the masses but it's so confusing because it really sucks too
