I liked the new movie a lot but couldn't help casting Tom Hardy as Father Jud. Maybe a bit old for the role now but the heart wants what it wants.

Met him 15 or so years ago at a local con where he was posing with an Ecto-1.

I assumed everybody was telling him how much they love Ghostbusters so I decided to deke a little bit. I told him I thought he was great in Congo.

He looked truly baffled that anyone had any opinion of that movie at all.

I'm so sorry, the line just scanned perfectly for "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," a song that I hate, but I couldn't get it out of my head. Neither of us are Christmas people, I don't know why my brain is like this!

On 1 hand, they made a 3-yr offer to Schwarber and probably knew Pete was leaving then. So in some sense they've given an indication that they are actually planning to go get big names and compete.

OTOH seeing Schwarb and Pete get 5 yr deals, maybe Mets think they don't want to compete now.

That's right. There's not a lot of good will capital to spend here, and meanwhile we must endure the hooting and jeering of uncouth Philly fans.

Neither explanation is great here. If Diaz wanted out no matter the cost, that's an indictment of the FO we can't ignore. If they failed to drive a big enough dump truck of money up to his house, that's just as bad.
