Yeah, both dog and horse came back shortly (before I'd even started walking after them, even, after I was done laughing), and he was a little hyper but fine with replacing the bridle and continuing the ride.

Yeah, basically want to try and keep yourself upright to minimize balance issues for the horse, don't shift suddenly.

Went over my horses's head once (no rearing involved) and managed to snag the bridle on my way by, ended up sitting in the road holding the headstall in one hand, the reins in the other, and laughing my ass off while my horse and dog trotted off down the road without me.
