Sadly I've seen even otherwise well-intentioned cis allies fall victim to this - particularly in the way certain publications and organisations are prepared to 'showcase' a certain type of trans woman whom they feel is more 'acceptable' to their readership than others. Which isn't real allyship imo.

I think she's just a bigot, personally, and not behaving in the way she does because she has developed a dementia condition.

I think one needs to remember that health issues - whether mental or physical - can affect people of all ages. There is a point at which ageism and ableism intersect. I think society should strive to represent all age groups in a more balanced way instead of write people off on account of their age.

As an older trans woman, I've noticed how trans women my age become invisible too - even when firms and organisations are trying to be trans inclusive. The beauty industry is particularly notorious for this.

I think we need candidates representative of all age groups. Surely, that's a much better solution to simply replacing one ageist situation (i.e. too many older candidates) with another (i.e. too many younger candidates)?
