In case it doesn't go without saying: I have not used gen AI to create text in any of my books. I have not used Grammarly etc to "clean up" the text. I have not used it to research any of my books, except where it might be built into search engines under the hood (I do not use labelled AI results).

I have never needed AI for ideas. If you have the right creators and art around you, the ideas happen by themselves. The more you insist on using AI even just for trivial stuff, the more you train yourself not to communicate with your own heart.

I originally thought that using generative AI for concept art was the most valid use, but as time went on I began to realize that the inherent creativity—the humanity—of the concept art was the research of the artist: their entire life story, their view of the world, that endured to the end product.
