Operator ** binds more tightly than @! and @! binds more tightly than %^ and %^ binds more tightly than **, and using **, @! and %^ in the same expression is considered a syntax error.

A friend from elementary school achieved a certain amount of fame through his appearances on a popular game show. But now he's achieved real fame because a few days ago those game show appearances were themselves the subject of a question on a completely different game show.

I've been making .iso copies of all my DVDs so I can finally throw away the physical media which has been rotting away for years.

Curiously I can't copy the BFI (British Film Institute) DVDs with the tools I have even though they haven't started the rot yet […]

With some help from Codex I managed to resurrect my old flashcard app for iOS and after a gap of 10 years I can get back to learning random facts. Anyway, maybe I need to remove this one from my flag flashcards even if it is technically correct.

(I never liked Anki.)

I could look up the meaning of "skeleton" but I think I'm enjoying not knowing.

"Conservative" is just a euphemism for backwards.

Backward people who want to see a return to the days of kings and peasants.
Backward people who see people of one colour as more important than another.
Backward people who want to see the return of diseases that were once eliminated.
Backward […]

I just remembered a programming technique from the days when I had access to a Commodore Pet.

I wanted to allow users to type in a function and plot the graph. I could have written an expression parser. But far easier was to print out a line of code and a RUN […]

On this day in 1935, my beloved noble USS Macon slowly sank into the sea off Pt. Sur. All but 2 of her crew survived. I never saw my beloved again.

I am so empty.
RE: https://sfba.social/@MoffettHangar1/116059182814164830

In response to the damage (on this day in 1935), Commander Wiley ordered fuel to be dropped, causing the airship to rapidly rise. The Macon's automatic valves released Helium at her 5000 ft ceiling, and she settled into the stormy surf […]

"Autoregressive" seems like a very fancy word for "doing stuff in some order".

Now I know I didn't imagine it. SOFT was my favourite computing magazine back in the 80s. It didn't last long and it's *very* hard to find mentions of it online. I've never seen issues on eBay. This is the first time I've seen a scan of a cover.

It was one of […]

I just want to repeat how disgusted I am by the current federal government. I visited Stonewall recently so it's fresh in my mind.

The government of the US hates the people of the US. I don't believe this state of affairs can last […]

Everyone knows about ARM chips and some people even know the "A" secretly stands for "Acorn" who created the Atom and BBC Micro.

Less well known is the ARC chip where the "A" stands for Argonaut, the game company I once worked for. The ARC was developed by building on expertise that came from […]

Dropped in on Codex X book fair in Oakland. The Euclid's Elements is a WIP. That cover is mechanical, opens like a Hellraiser puzzle. And opossum.png is what it looks like, a beautifully bound listing of a png of an opossum.

I hate when people talk about shared US and UK values. The British people would never tolerate garbage in Parliament the way Americans tolerate it in the White House.
