I live in a town of a thousand people. I AM a fucking rural voter. I know how to talk to them?!” @grahamformaine.bsky.social in conversation with Tory Gavito, president at @waytowinus.bsky.social .bsky.social

Just had to type the phrase "winning with those voters who make less than $55k a year and ultimately winning every battleground state" -- and it just doesn't get easier to really sit with the devastating reality of the loss and it's implications.

I’m at my gate at LAX after a quick trip. I swear this city steals a little piece of my heart every time. Today she was just showing off. #DTLA

Both of these movements are gloriously grassroots. It just is what it is: Real people with sharpie markers, who aren’t done with giving a damn. From a messaging perspective, it’s far from perfect. But authenticity is what makes it so powerful, and that creates energy. *Energy is what we need now.

Thankfully, grassroots progressives are swinging into action. Pop-up protests against DOGE spread nationwide on Monday with hundreds of spontaneous rallies on the theme of “No Kings on President’s Day,” part of a memetic movement known as as 50501, coming on the heels of the Day without Immigrants..

I went to my son's school play tonight and sat next to one of the grandmas who leaned in close, with a pleading look: "Doyle, what are Democrats doing? I went to the DNC website and there was...nothing. So I wrote them with my ideas, telling them they have to fight! But why would they listen to me?"

Wheels up to @rootscamp.bsky.social and looking forward to connecting with my fellow progressives to find a way forward. It is not an easy time. But this is the sun rising over Rainer, and above the fog it is clear - here’s hoping we may we find this clarity and embrace the light of a new day.
