This popped up on YouTube a few days ago - the earliest (I think) known footage of R.E.M. From February 1981, kicking off proceedings with a Buddy Holly cover

@eofftv.bsky.social Hi Kevin, really intrigued by whatever your Jack Ruby project is. When will we find out more?

It's funny that snooker is considered boring by so many people. So much tension, and players capitulating just when it looks certain that they'll win.

Apologies for the language in these posts. When I said:

"this cunt MacKenzie judging the actions of West Midlands Police."

I ought to have said:

"this cunt MacKenzie judging the actions of those cunts in the West Midlands Police."

Real oversight on my part.
Get on this cunt MacKenzie judging the actions of West Midlands Police.

What has ever been the point of anything?
I hope every public official in Britain is watching this, because this bullshit comes with the promise: if you ever defy us, you could be next.

Bob Dylan was incredible tonight in Brighton. In my opinion he and the band were better than last year in London. And that's despite not being able to see him this time.

Happy Bootleg Series release day! Here's my exhaustive (exhausting?) track by track guide to read while you listen. A deep dive on each song—where they come from, what they sound like, have we heard them before

(And if you didn't buy the full set, two discs worth are on streaming today)

Just watched the 1932 horror film 'Doctor X' and one of the characters says 'The human mind will only stand so much'. Bob Dylan seems to love the early horror films, so could this be where he got the lyric for Things have changed? (albeit with will 'changed' to can)

I love the late 90's/early 2000s NET gigs. Dylan was having so much fun looking at this performance of It's alright, Ma (I'm only bleeding) youtube.com/clip/UgkxMvR...

Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series Vol. 18 is apparently a reissue of Bootleg Series Vol. 16 Springtime in New York. Google AI working like a dream here

@mikemuncer.bsky.social Just watched another Frankenstein-esque movie, Britannia Hospital, following a recommendation in a Kevin Lyons BFl article. Not sure I loved it, but what a cast. Almost every British star of the 70s and 80s, plus @markhamillofficial.bsky.social directed by Lindsay Anderson.

I'm all for 16 yr olds being given the vote, but there's also huge danger with it. My kids (16 and 14) make it clear that there are huge swathes of people in their years who openly talk positively about reform & would vote for them. Democracy fuelled by misinformation & by this Labour government.

Weird that City and United have signed deals worth £100m and £90m per season respectively, but LFCs brand new deal with Adidias is only reported to be £60m per year. Am I missing something?

@mikemuncer.bsky.social Just watched the finale, and now I need you and Stacey to talk about it, and the series as a whole, for at least 4 hours.

@knoxharrington.bsky.social Are there any rumours about when the Anfield friendly will be? (if there is one this yr). The PL starts on 16th August, so the charity shield will be the week before and we're in Asia the week before that until at least the 31st July so 3rd August doesn't seem possible.
