I also VERY MUCH stand by the observations about how authoritarianism doesn't always look aesthetically bleak, and it's dangerous to assume it does

Should've been at least 1,000 words shorter and I'd love to rewrite the opening section, but I still think it's a very good essay grappling with issues of cultural identity and how we present it and understand it

I mean, certainly don't feel obligated! But if you do make a video at some point, I would love to see it.

At some point (probably), Pope Leo has given a homily on faith-questioning and the song "Losing My Religion," contrasting its themes with those of "Everybody Hurts" and "Nightswimming."

Adam Scott has heard a bootleg of this homily and has deep thoughts he would like to share with Leo

If gambling can’t be banned outright, it should be regulated so you can’t do it online. You should have to do it the old way, go to a dirty storefront in the worst part of town with all the other losers and hand over cash to an old guy with a layer of visible crust all over his skin.

You know what, I can genuinely imagine Adam Scott and Pope Leo having a conversation about REM albums. I bet they both have a top 3 locked in.

Anyway, I woul love to see a major news outlet commission an op-ed from a historian (or political scientist or activist) in Puerto Rico or the USVI on the subject of US naval actions and build-up in the Caribbean

I wrote about Trump's throwback imperialist impulses in [checks notes] 2017, and between the Greenland stuff and increasing deadly actions in the Caribbean, the echoes of history have only gotten stronger

Oh no.

Not Bill Clinton.

Oh no.

What will I do now with my Clinton Crypto, Clinton Bible, Clinton Hat, Clinton Vodka, Clinton University diploma, Clinton Tower lease?

I am nothing without those
