It's certainly welcome to hear the #Chancellor announce £39bn for affordable housing, building on the success of places like #Sheffield.

We'll have to await the detail of how this splits out over the 10-year period and how much is for social rent not just "affordable" related to market prices.

Today, @angelaargenzio.bsky.social is speaking at the start of the #povertyconference in #Sheffield.

Seriously?

Rachel Reeves has just announced universal credit to be cut by half for sick people.

No wonder @adrianramsay.bsky.social called the #SpringBudget "morally repugnant."

Businesses can still apply for grants towards new, cleaner vehicles in #Sheffield - but apply soon. The #cleanair grants scheme ends on 31st May.

Here's the details:

Hi @clearchanneluk.bsky.social - nearly had a nasty crash because of your display blocking the cycle path and sight lines. The other cyclist had to swerve round the board but couldn't see me coming the other way

Ooooohhh .... unkind headline! 😬

Also ... disgraceful! 😡

Some very clear and direct calls to Sheffield council today to take action on pension fund investments in Israel.

Today's published survey show the worries that many local authorities have about financing vital council housing.

This coalition of councils is urging the government to act to save council housing.

In a truly pedestrian-friendly city, pavements would be gritted and cleared of ice as well as roads. It's much harder for people walking to the bus

Congratulations to former Director of Housing at @sheffcitycouncil.bsky.social for her MBE in the New Year's Honours.

Janet has unrivalled experience and dedication to public service in local government.

Like or loathe #skyscrapers, housing lots of people in city centres is absolutely key to tackling #climatechange.

This is Manchester.

It's not even rush hour and the 3-car #Sheffield to #Manchester train is still standing room only.

Is anything wrong with Britain's #railways?

Also this week, I was on site at Newstead to celebrate the start of building 77 new council homes in #Sheffield.

As Chair of the Housing Committee, I can't wait until the new flats and houses are ready to let.

Council housing is a vital public service we should be proud of.
