Same! Personally I guess ghosted by an artist is a big bummer but like I get it. Getting ghosted by an editor leaves so many questions

I tried straight to trade with my last one. Because every reader says they want the full story when I’m tabling. Was my first failure.
Pros told me that the goal was too high. And yet that was 80% for the art. Just something to be aware of.

Bummer to be told this one genre is get good enough to be recruited to the one or two places to tells these stories and their way or the audience of the genre will not care.

That is also fair. For all your Boys, Invincible, Dispatch or whatever not easy to separate from the major leaders.
Other story genres don’t have that hurdle. But like video game live service games or wrestling companies only a place for 1-2 maybe a distant 3rd.

Makes sense. Having the funds to make it available to be found or stand out isn’t as easy in comics. Personally would put me in such a debt that I couldn’t responsibly attempt

On your second point…Me personally, I am trying variety: murder mysteries, battle royals, prison dramas, inheritance dramas. Sometimes to separate and do something hopefully unique.

I am not sure either. I have not tried an ongoing yet. Mine have been one-shots or limited run, or straight to trade. I am shy to try anything ongoing and maybe that was my mistake?

The same issue is happening in comics. It’s great if you have a rep, but if you’re new, wanting an agent for YA OGN you better hope you are querying the exact formula wanted
Crowdfunding is getting harder. I have had successes but its getting impossible to keep grabbing attention. Expensive to fund
