We have an apple and quince festival here every year and I got some quince membrillo. Added some to a curry yesterday in place of tamarind and it worked great

Yes for a British audience but I think they just like to have a bit of knowledge to take away as you say, no matter the beer style

They usually want to know the difference between a stout and a porter. And they're always interested in the fact bitter is a pale ale, they probably trot that out!
