The OOTB ranking of an avatar should be considered as part of the value proposition when buying an avatar. Everyone has different priorities (fidelity vs optimization), but it's impossible to have your cake and eat it too. My suggestion to everyone is to open blender and start dissolving edge-loops.

I would appreciate if people optimized their avatars, and it's something I put effort into doing for my own avatars. However, I also put effort into tuning my experience and the current systems often force me to choose between seeing everyone and seeing no-one.

No. You're right that performance blocking in it's current implementation is useless. The intention behind the implementation is good but fails to contend with the in-game reality that many avatars will be blocked by performance rank without distinguishing between the different shades of Very-Poor.

I don't think we apply that same standard anywhere else. Expecting and granting some accommodation is baseline human decency. Joining a crowded instance with a performance pig of an avatar should cause the same negative gut reaction as someone shouting in a library.

The only capability that comes to mind is playing flat games on device. Especially with no play-store available on Horizon OS, so no android flat gaming without hoop jumping. Your thoughts?

He sounds exactly the same as someone with buyers remorse trying to talk themselves into not regretting their purchase.

I don't think we disagree, I just refuse to ever accept an account requirement as a given. Yes everything mentioned except the modded games require users have an account as modded games is the only thing listed that does not have a business model.

You dont need an iCloud account to keep a Mac updated or a Microsoft account to keep Windows updated. Additional features like store access is fine but the world would be a better place if it were optional.

I'd watch the video if you made it, though admittedly I have no interest in getting one.

I knock on Arkane's door and fund VR conversions of Dishonored 1/2 and Dark Messiah

The cycle is broken now with 11. Windows 8.1 was the good OS folloing Windows 8, and Windows 10 was the bad OS. 11 is the 2nd bad OS in a row, thus breaking the cycle.

Any standalone headset that supports USB ethernet could likely use this:

I think this depends on the shader used on the video screen. I think the one shipped with UdonSharpVideo supports different aspect ratios.

For 1-3 I agree. ODST and Reach tried to be different and I think they deserve some credit for it.

The starting point matters less than just starting at all. Try a few of the ones you've heard of and stick with whatever you like the most.

And look, I can tell you're pretty dug in on this so I don't expect to change your mind. But think of it this way: even if you are right and I am wrong, eventually I will be right. It's not too early to test the waters on other SteamVR controller options.

The current state of index in the US. Any kits are out of stock, however individual parts ARE available if bought individually. They are selling new units as replacement only, and any customer RMAs are done with refurbished devices.

AFAIK the original source of this is anonymous source reported via SadlyItsBradly. Supporting evidence is that pairs of controllers have been out of stock in NA for years.

As an option without finger tracking maybe. But if finger tracking is required this is ruled out.

noise complaint if you turn the video player volume too loud and the police show up.

I had a similar experience with my BSB1, but they eventually got me a unit that didn't have these issues. I got the headset in the November preorder batch, and was working with their support until March when they finally sent me a usable unit.
