There’s certainly a big difference for David Byrne. He still tours but won’t reunite with Talking Heads

It always strays
November 11, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Depends. Lots of reasons
November 11, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Fair enough
November 11, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Ha ha. I just got blocked by Jolyon Maugham for calling him an unbelievable fool, which was more than fair. I wouldn’t put up with me
November 11, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Well the examples I gave are both doing something new
November 11, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Ha, that is a little biased but I'll allow it. Have you really been with them that long?
November 11, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Yes, really good live too
November 11, 2025 at 8:08 PM
I saw them in 1990 and thought they were great but yes they're probably better now
November 11, 2025 at 8:07 PM
OK well I don't think she's a fascist
November 11, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Sorry, who did I call a fascist?

"Gender ideology" does not exist. What you mean is trans people. Your other questions are strawmen. Your suggestion that an anti-trans agenda is a conspiracy theory is risible
November 11, 2025 at 7:50 PM
Here are some reasons: (1) Right-wing parties made it a wedge issue, (2) There's endless money for anti-trans lawsuits, (3) Most of the media, including liberal outlets has an anti-trans bias. No doubt there could have been a better political strategy but these are giant factors
November 11, 2025 at 7:47 PM
The fact you use the term "gender ideology" makes me suspicious I have to say
November 11, 2025 at 7:39 PM
Her book was not written in good faith though. That's the problem. As she has since demonstrated, it was part of an anti-trans agenda. So I don't know how you're defining "reasonable"
November 11, 2025 at 7:38 PM
I'm saying she's biased and her book is biased. My concern with the Tavistock was that there was only specialist gender clinic for young people in the UK and it was hopelessly oversubscribed. Now there are none

The whole thread is about Barnes at Newsnight if you hadn’t noticed
November 11, 2025 at 7:25 PM
His adviser role ended in June. This was his exit document
November 11, 2025 at 6:49 PM
Look up her work for the New Statesman if you like. The bias is clear. Perhaps she wasn’t anti-trans when she was researching the book but she is now
November 11, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Fair enough. I would have blocked me
November 11, 2025 at 5:58 PM
The truth? She is an anti-trans activist, which colours her book somewhat
November 11, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Good grief. I’m not a regular listener
