Trans man. Left to my own devices I'd be making mead and playing with my friends and chosen family in the woods. Choosing kindness as my strength. Pet cats, lift heavy, laugh in the teeth of despair.

Writing is a chance, for a moment, to see the world (and imagined worlds) through another human's eyes. It's creative and emphatic. It's a window into another soul. AI has none of that. It's an empty amalgamation of stolen parts.

This never should have even been a question for y'all.

Part of the appeal is discovering new writers and not knowing what they'll write next! Maybe I'll hate their next book, maybe I'll love it. Regardless, I don't have control over what they do, and I *shouldn't*. Their experiences and hopes and fears shape their writing, and connect us.

I don't do this because a) I want to support the authors I like, and b) part of the draw of the Nebulas and similar contests (and various anthologies, etc.) is that it allows me to discover new authors with new-to-me voices.

So, I understand that y'all reversed the decision- great! But genuinely- *why* would I want to buy and read a collection of stories that contains LLM "authors"? I could just go on ChatGPT and ask it to make up a story for me with all the things I like, in the style of authors I like.

100%. I'm firmly of the opinion that everyone should either work in a customer service position, or have a closed loved one who's worked customer service. Baristas have a much better idea of the needs of average Americans than congressmen.

Please, being a barista is a real job that requires actual customer service, politicians could never.
