Yeeeep it was certainly the most frustrating game I ever managed to finish.

I try not think too much about the space pirates because I feel like the series wants them to be actual pirates while also being a massive organised military force that rivals the Federation.

Yeah I think that stigma is pretty much absent from anime and manga themselves, but it's still has some presence when games or other media have something anime-adjacent.

I don't know if DE has fixed this but a regular issue I had with the original was low level quests being placed in high level areas.

It lead to so many bizarre situations.
