Which demands our complete and robotic indifference to our bio families/origins but somehow we should be able to manifest love for our adopters as if they bore us naturally. It is bonkers.

One of the most ignorant thing about liberals is their lack of understanding that adoption is a profoundly conservative and heteronormative institution, full stop.

My (sealed) birth record in DC doesn't just bind me to my long-deceased adopters but is an obligation I bear to current adopters decades my junior, who are viewed as adults while I am not.

You walked into the "mob" by choice, Dave. Didn't anyone warn you that adopted people are DANGEROUS? You should be more careful!
December 17, 2025 at 7:11 PM
That's not my guarantee, it is the adoption industry's. I lived through their fucking abysmal failure at it so you don't have to tell me. It's supposed to be for the *child* not the hopes (whims, really) of the adopters.

That was me! They were getting divorced by the time I was 4. Met my bio mom when I was 50 and learned the main reason she relinquished was for me to be raised by married parents. Ope!

Go look at current birth rates and realize that effective contraception is a way bigger threat to your beloved adoption system than some adoptees on Bluesky you don't agree with. Be mad at IUDs, not us!
December 17, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Adoption is supposed to be a 100% guarantee of a safe, loving home for the child. That is exactly how it is sold to the public so the acceptable number of incredibly bad results is precisely zero.
December 17, 2025 at 6:15 PM
I had an abortion instead of putting myself through what my mother had to endure. And I wasn't going to subject my child to adoption to strangers. Adoptees like me exist but we don't get interviewed.
December 17, 2025 at 5:35 PM
So you're wrong then.
December 17, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Not many GenXers could vote in 1984 so I don't know why this talking point persists.
December 17, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Bigotry? Well I guess you won't be doing private infant adoption because I'm sure you don't want to participate in this, right?
December 17, 2025 at 4:42 PM
Your contempt for us is not as persuasive as you think it is.
December 15, 2025 at 10:02 PM
Do you have any idea how pathetic this looks? You're going to need to deal with your Xitter Loneliness Crisis yourselves, guys.
December 15, 2025 at 9:48 PM
What "workers body" would want to work with her?
December 13, 2025 at 4:51 PM
The average Atlantic writer would try to have her fired for rolling her eyes at them.
December 12, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Every so-called class warrior I encounter acts like all the things after "imperialism" are "identity politics and a distraction".
December 12, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Actual working class people don't talk like that.
December 12, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Every single one of you nonces working for the Atlantic would have that same woman fired if she gave you "attitude".

BTW how many working class people do you employ as writers there?

See also: "Why do you want to disrupt your bio family's life?" Our family of either type are always the innocent victims.
December 11, 2025 at 9:59 PM
When a kept person says "blood doesn't make you family". Like, okay, what made you family to yours then?
December 11, 2025 at 9:57 PM
I like how Dobbs somehow doesn't come up in any of this.
December 11, 2025 at 5:40 PM
I suspect "foster to adopt" is behind a lot of this. Social workers incentivized via funding to find children under 5 to serve that market.
