Retired from a career that took me around the world and continually reminded me that Canada is a wonderful place. Winnipeg transplant, currently living in Ottawa. Interested in issues concerning politics, law, and human migration.
Yes, I was being a little obtuse these…

My son is currently in grade 11. They studied media literacy and at least he seems to be a good critical thinker. There is also a half term civics course in grade 10. Social studies has been broken out into geography and history, more or less. I think the curriculum is ok, it’s how it’s delivered.

The media calls on him. Sometimes he has something to say that is worth hearing.

Unbelievable as it may sound, he was a decent minister of immigration, at least from the point of view of those who were trying to fix some long standing issues.

He made a serious miscalculation going povincial.

I fully agree that high levels of immigrants, study permit holders, and work permit holders are part of the problem, but we can also thank many other factors such as the concentration of rental housing among REITs and the lack of planning by the provinces (who all clamoured for more immigrants).

They‘ll dismiss comments like mine as being elitist and that they are ”getting out in nature”.

I know lots of poor and working class people who prefer to get out in nature in winter by walking, on snowshoes or skis, or even bikes.

Meanwhile people with $10k machines need their trails paid for.

And then they had the gall to claim that they were no longer raising the birds for food, but for "research". Never mind that they lacked any of the infrastructure and could not produce any evidence that this was the case.

Lansdowne 1.0 wasn’t perfect but at least it was better than a parking lot. It’s already gridlock whenever there’s an event - adding two or three more towers will just make it all that much worse.

Her demeanour and behaviour in committee meetings is deplorable.

And the hill will soon be history.

As if winning her Calgary riding is some kind of validation of her political acumen.

A CPC MP in most ridings in Alberta is not too much different from a senate appointment. Not much campaigning required (though the last election might've given her some pause).

Don't forget to honour the ostrich farmers as well.

Neither are without their biases but the current one used quite inflammatory and non-neutral language when criticizing policy. They should and must stick to providing impartial information.
