When Trump said, "If they can do it to me, they can do it to anyone" I didn't realize he meant directing federal agents (aka hastily hired and deputized Proud Boys) to canvass city streets to randomly assault and detain innocent Americans.

Junior sailors and officers need to remember Trump's "if they can do it to me, they can do it to you" when they watch a senior leader lose their career in a flash because Hegseth has no loyalty or integrity (2 of the Army Values he was supposed to live up to during his <3 years of active service)

In the real world: The DOJ functions with prosecutorial independence from White House political pressure.

The Earth we currently reside on: Trump tells Bondi not to prosecute. No $1 million pardon needed. Hegseth maybe gets impeached and has to settle for a multi-million dollar gig back at Fox.

We keep talking about how the second strike was illegal.

Agreed. Or maybe the "yes men" he hired to replace the honest lawyers he fired turned out to really be super duper undercover "deep state" operatives intent on giving illegal counsel and frame him for war crimes.

Impeachment or resignation (with a guaranteed follow-on Fox "News" show) shouldn't be the penalty for extrajudicial executions. Maybe extradition to Venezuela?
Unfortunately UCMJ doesn't apply since he was a failed part-time officer with <3 yrs AFS (a little shy of retirement).
Just my opinion.

A targeting board always includes an op law attorney/SJA.

Hegseth fired several top military lawyers in Feb because he wanted to replace them with more "like-minded individuals" to reduce "roadblocks" to certain military actions.

Hard for legal to say no when they were appointed to always say yes.
