This resolution has been put forth since 2012. Or 2005, according to the U.S. Mission to the UN. That was years before Maidan, so the resolution hardly could have been intended to justify the invasion of Ukraine.

Yes, it's an interesting argument, because the U.S. consistently voted against the resolution for 10 years before the war in Ukraine but now says the resolution is about the war. Also noting who in the world seems willing to see this vote as being only about either Ukraine or Russia.

Apparently motivated since 2012 by Russia, it has been consistently voted against by the U.S.A. and Ukraine.
