from my journal entry about this today:
text on dark background, reading: "I struggle to contextualize my feelings for [my friend]. my soul is burgeoning with a near indescribable passion for it, driving me onwards like a reactor to lengths I wouldn't go for many, if any, others. This love eclipses in totality all past experiences of platonic affect, bursting so far beyond the fragile boundaries of conventional friendship that you'd find a firefly a better definition for the sun. Yet I do not taste the bittersweet yearning of romantic longing on my tongue. I do not want to be its girlfriend, yet the compassion I feel steeling my joints and swelling up in my throat when it needs me to do something makes me genuinely invincible. I do not want to be its wife, yet I want to grow older and closer with it for all eternity, the number of our years a pale fraction of the number of our shared moments and stories. In my memory I have not ever felt this way for anyone before. The enormity of this bond narrowly escapes my ability to describe it, try as I nonetheless will. I may not understand these feelings of themselves, but I do understand that this is what [my friend] has earned. It deserves this effort and I will deliver it."

a very angry response to an email in which I was deadnamed by my union, that reads "Yes, that's my deadname. Have you ever spoken to, represented, or even been acquainted with a transgender person before? I knew that this would be the exact issue yet I was hoping you'd have the tact not to send to my work email the name I've spent four years distancing myself from. It is extremely common for transgender people to have different names than what is on their legal documents, and you and the union's failure to make even this basic accommodation speaks to institutional incompetence. I was misgendered at the very first union meeting I attended, and not even a week later I am deadnamed in an official communication from the union that is supposed to represent me, and it's frankly disgusting and disappointing. You are not to ever, under any circumstances, refer to me with that name again. Do you understand?"
