Here's a side by side comparison with the Maestro and an Albion Meyer for reference. The Sigi happens to be very loosely inspired by the Diefstetter fechtschwert from the MET (especially for its decoration), but it is not a close reproduction - and that was not its purpose.

I happen to have a Sigi Maestro as well - and use it on the regular. Very nice, flexible and robust but they're designed for a different environment, that of contemporary competitions. They flex at around 10-12 kgs, with a thicker blade and without the wide spatula. This one flexes around 5,5kgs.

I have been looking for quite some time for a #fencing sword that more closely mimics historical artifacts. On top of being gorgeous, this one is the perfect tool to try out the Prellhaw in practice.

Its schilt is based on the kind of swords depicted in Joachim Meyer Gründtliche Beschreibung, and in Paulus Hector Mair Opus Amplissimum. the blade flares in a large spatula at the end, for a blade thickness of less than a millimeter. It's also way more flexible than modern so-called "Federschwert".

It's a short #fencing treatise from 1781 in French and German. A distinctive feature lies in it being addressed to a fencing teacher, rather than a student, and it details the contents of fencing lessons and exercices to be practiced.

At first glance it could be a partial copy of Cod.1426, a 17th century copy of the #Dürer #Fechtbuch lost during WW2.

This one ? no, it's a fresh one. I dug it up a week ago, and I'm not sure there are many in the #HEMA community who are aware of its existence - let alone working on it. RvN started a partial transcription, and is having it reviewed by Jan Schäfer, afaik.
