It opened on its current site in 1883 and developed out of the 'Dispensary' hospital est in 1822.

Appropriate for a mental health hospital. There are four quarters, top right a caduceus shown with two butterflies (as seen on other examples of this badge) or weird little critters (as seen on this badge); bottom right is a 'device' in black on dark blue enamel consisting of circle with a crown at the top and an X through the middle - with the bottom crosses joined with a straight line - known as the "Southwark Cross" or "Bridge House Mark" usually associated with the Trust that looks after London bridges, No idea what it's doing here; bottom left is green enamel with a red an wite circle, within it a 'cross' made up of 5 red dots; and top left is the London County Council (LCC) devie - a white flag with a red cross on it (England) with dark blue and black waves underneath it - The four quarters are divided by white enamel lines. The medal has a fine chain and safety pin shown in the image, this was in addition to the reverse pin to ensure it didn't fall off.

Gold medal attached to a bar. Outer rim inscribed 'Bristol Royal Infirmaty. Founder 1735'. The centre is a profile of a long-curly-wigged man in suit and flouncy neck piece. tthe inscription is a bit odd as the hospital, although founded in 1735, was founded by public subscription. Much later in 1903 a chap called George White saved the hospital from debts, but I doubt he'd have worn a wig like this. It's possible this is an image of George II who was king in 1735, but he tends to be portrayed in medals as a Roman emperor.... If you know the answer please let me know!

Bridgend #Workhouse est in the 1830s added an infirmary in 1909, later renamed BGH. Closed in the 1990s replaced by Princess of Wales Hospital.

'Silver' circular badge with dark blue enamel. The outer ring is embellished (possibly a laurel wreath). Within that is a dark blue enamel ring inscribed ' Bridgend General Hospital, Gorau Golud-Iechyd'. According to Google Translate the latter is Welsh for 'Best Wealth-Health'. The centre is a cut out textured cross, at the very centre superimposed is an oil lamp (aka Nightingale lamp) with a yellow enamel flame at its centre. If anyone knows if the Welsh translation is accurate I'd love to know!
