Academic Librarian. After the election trying not to just doomscroll all the time. Authoritarians, racists & misogynists are bad. The effort to install an American kakistocracy is worse. The Handmaid's Tale is not a guidebook. Your religious beliefs≠mine.
Glad to read this update. Now fingers crossed that the surgeons change opinion from cautiously optimistic to very optimistic. Poor pupper has been through so much but just look at that handsome face!

What about freeze dried meat? To avoid the preper sites, maybe a camping goods site would have pouches of freeze dried protein.

Wishing him the absolute best possible outcome later this week. Poor pup has really been through the wringer, and you have as well. I'll be thinking good thoughts!

To be clear, not mine. I saw it in a yard while I was walking Gigi. Had to snap a photo without looking like I was casing the place!

I've used those glow collars on the dogs for nightly walkies for years. At Christmas I usually double up and put both a green and a red on them. Gigi has been wearing the red one for a while, reminds me I have to dig around and find the green one.

Terrific news and wonderful happy photos!

Just heard it tonight! It's one of my favorites too, and I do actually tend to hear it a least a 1/2 dozen times in either stores or on the radio every holiday season.

I did mine and was surprised some of the words didn't show up in the results. So it must only look at posts and not replies. I know for certain there are f-bombs in my replies, but the report didn't have any on it. I'm sure what it analyzes is explained somewhere but the no replies was news to me.

Yeah Socks! So sweet that they couldn't wait to bring her home and moved up their timeline! Looking forward to your next furball guest.

Nor could I. I do wonder what possibly goes through the minds of people like this. Doesn't sound like it was a passive aggressive thing. Really sounds like a self-absorbed or clueless thing. What else in life do you think they just awkwardly stumble through not realizing the chaos they cause?

Then I poured in 1/2 cup or so of apple cider vinegar. When it started bubbling I threw in about a cup of dried cranberries. After that simmered for a bit I added a few good squeezes of balsamic glaze and then some toasted sliced almonds at the very end. Gently folded the sauce over the brussels.
November 28, 2025 at 3:59 AM
The brussels were delicious. Photos still are wonky for me, but they wouldn't have won on looks anyway. I halved them, mixed them with oil, salt, pepper, and garlic and roasted cut side down until they were fairly brown and crispy. On the stove top I fried shallots & bacon pieces in butter. (cont.)

There are several food offenses represented in this picture and it's hard to focus on which of them is the worst.
November 28, 2025 at 2:01 AM
I hope so, because that doesn't look like something worth the major interruption it caused and the time it took.

2 hours and 15 minutes to assemble a sweet potato pie?!?!?! I know cute kiddo gumming up the works, but goddamn did she go out and harvest the sweet potatoes, churn the butter, and mill the flour herself?
November 27, 2025 at 7:58 PM
I can be the next identified villain - if I had managed to grit my teeth through it and acquiesce to someone wanting to make a pie in a crowded kitchen/oven 3 hours before dinner and then they involved a child in the process, I would have totally and completely lost my shit
November 27, 2025 at 7:52 PM
The only excuse I could see that would keep me from saying a furious snarky NO would be if it's like a great aunt or grandma over 80 years old that everyone knows is having memory problems. Pretty sure that isn't the scenario in your tale.
November 27, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Invested in the drama, please update as is reasonable given any other responsibilities you have. Need to know the outcome of this. Like is someone going to bite into boiling hot pie fresh from the oven for dessert? I think not, so the offender might as well stop right now.
November 27, 2025 at 6:52 PM
OMG! Um, how about "hell no".
November 27, 2025 at 6:48 PM
I'll give it another try. Brussels are on the schedule for prep (taking off the stalk) in about an hour. I'll let you know.
November 27, 2025 at 5:49 PM
For myself I would take it at the end of the meal. For the dogs right before a meal or thrown into the meal, because after the meal there is no way they are going to be fooled by the danger cheese.
