Zora Neale Hurston is widely celebrated as an author, but she was also the first African-American female filmmaker. In 1927, Hurston traveled to the South capturing 85 min of rural Black life. Our filmmakers draw inspiration from Hurston’s legacy & we are proud to be in partnership with them #BHM
