BONUS: Many of them are now creating the busywork using AI, which frees up their time to create more busywork, and which we have to spend hours of extra time correcting and editing because it’s fucking garbage and they can’t even tell

An important factor here is administrative bloat that creates a whole tranche of staff who need to justify their jobs by creating rafts of busywork for faculty that we (rightly) resent, and exacerbates their sense that we are a bunch of obstreperous heel-draggers

Wait -- what? I have a very clear visual memory of Chewie getting a medal alongside everyone else. I can see him ducking down farther than the others to have the ribbon placed around his neck, the medal nestling in his chest fur, the little rrrRRRrrr of satisfaction he lets out.... DID I DREAM THIS?
