to be clear, I think planescape does suck
To keep the piece readable, I largely kept it to stuff I could be reasonably sure my audience had played (Mass Effect, Dragon age, Planescape, etc) or stuff I could discuss in detail (Adios). I wanted to spend more time on VtmB, but ran out of time.

This one's a particularly weird one for me, because I'm not usually so vulnerable. I did what I could to explain at the start that hey, "this is for me" and it's very much what I do before I write the essays you usually know me for.

whenever a ghost or demon tries to use the memories of a dead loved one to convince me to do its bidding, rather than going "...p... papa?? but you died ten years ago this very night!" I just remember the most important scam attempt in history and it gives me the strength to carry on
