videogames are the worst medium in history

every review is jerking it off tho, wow it controls so much better(same control scheme as every other over the shoulder 3rd person AAA game from the past 10 years) and they got rid of all the OBJECTIVELY BAD AND OUTDATED GAME DESIGN,
just a nightmare

RE4 immediately jumped to being one of my favourite games ever, its got such tight game design compared to the remake which feels sloppy to control with all the additional animations that do nothing but make the game feel worse and lame extra mechanics that break game flow like parry

ive played so many older games the last few years that i dodged growing up and so many of them are just genuinely still great,
i finished RE4 for the first time like the year before or the same year as the remake released, and then i played the remake
2005 was cleanly better with no nostalgia

same for gaming review websites, think pieces about how gaming is in a massive slump paired with the highest average game ratings in history,
its like everyone feels it but no one wants to point fingers at anything directly

i feel like every year everyone tells eachother and themselves that the games coming out are so good and the best ever and GOAT contenders but everyone also seems to keep making videos and talking about how everyone knows gaming is bad now and its not exciting anymore

donkey kong is probably neat but i feel like it would have felt weird for most people that arent nintendo die hards if it won and ive only heard vague "its good" praise about kcd2 which dosent tell me much because kcd1 looked like oblivion with no fantasy elements to me, super jank

death stranding 1 was divisive but everyone was talking about it for ages DS2 kinda just came and went i feel like and everything i heard about it was that they lowered engagement with all my favourite parts of 1 and expanded on all my least favourite parts which sucks for me

the others feel odd, like everyone accepts that hades 2 is good but literally everyone ive heard talk about it is like "yeah its objectively good but i like it less than hades 1" which makes it a weird GOTY contender to me? like a less good sequel winning tells me games are worse this year than 2020

everyone keeps saying it was an amazing year for games but looking at the game of the year nominees i feel like its kind of sad, ignoring e33 you have silksong, a sequel to a game i dont *love* but accept is clearly well made and well crafted and is probably very good, which is fair enough but...

the game awards obviously dosent matter and is a big lame ad but it does every year give me a little window outside of my little bubble to see what gamers broadly think is good and cool,
its upsetting every time watching my least favourite things about games getting reinforced as ideal every time

to see it win something that isnt just like "oh i dont think it does this as good as the other nominees" but instead something i think its actively BAD at feels discrediting.

its like genuinely distractingly bad for me i cant take a single thing seriously because of it,
but i feel like e33 fans arent processing that the pushback against the art award win isnt just people going "well yknow it looks *good* but idk if it deserve to win *everything*"

im seeing people who are fans of e33 getting upset about the pushback on art direction and posting screenshots, ive seen so much footage and so many screenshots at this point and not for a single moment have i felt anything but disgust for the visuals

the thing that specifically gets me is the art direction win,
since the first day i heard about e33 before i knew a single thing about it i saw how it looked and went "wow that looks so fucking ugly"
it would be impossible for me to play that game and enjoy it because i have this reaction every time

also olivia is nice actually and its basically just the dad that is the problem
