Amazing to think all that vibrant blue color is just a trick of the feathers. The feathers only reflect blue light, but they are not blue pigmented. Cool huh.

The green, mushy patches on the fungus is most likely due to green mold (like Trichoderma) or algae that thrives in damp, humid conditions. This is a natural occurrence as the fungus breaks down organic matter.
