An update to capture some reading I got in after the semester ended and some things I forgot.

- Janet Frame, Intensive Care (WHAT a novel)
- Emma Heaney, ed., Feminism Against Cisness (esp. the flamethrower of an intro)
- Harsha Walia, Border & Rule (taught a few chapters this fall, it’s great)

I ended up using these three quotes, from Beverly Best, @annakornbluh.bsky.social, and bell hooks. And it went well! The students did exactly what I hoped they would: spent a little time on each and then started comparing them / reading them off of each other.

I’m teaching a seminar on foundational concepts in WGSS and want to spend part of our 1st mtg reading & comparing quotes on what theory is/does, how theory relates to struggle, etc. I’m sharing this banger from Beverly Best, but I’m looking for more. What are your favorites?

Who else is reading Pip Adam’s novels? I just finished The New Animals this afternoon and immediately bought Audition, her latest. I thought I had a good grip on what TNA was doing, but the hard turn it takes made my head spin.

One of these flew INTO MY SHIRT earlier and I didn’t even know until I was back in the office and felt it CRAWLING ON MY NECK, so that’s how my day went.

A quick appreciation post for After Marx: Literature, Theory, and Value in the 21st Century. I’ve read about half of it and it’s just banger after banger so far.
